Another shot of the 'Utility' Daimler as it ground it's way up the half mile long 1:8 out of Carhampton en route for Watchet. The old girl wasn't really making too bad a headway, but you soon realise that today's traffic moves around almost unimpeded by even the steepest of inclines. CCX 777 has recently received a replacement AEC 7.7 engine in lieu of it's old tired unit, and now performs noticeably better than my first recollection of driving it. The bus, a type built in large numbers for the starved home market during WW2, is fitted with 'pre-select' semi-automatic transmission.
